Youth Retreat

Just wanted to update the blog and ask for your prayers this weekend. Adam, Kathy, and Karen are headed out with the youth to PYOCA for the youth retreat this weekend. Please pray that the youth are encouraged in their walk with the Lord and that they have a great time getting away. Please pray for our youth leaders as they lead these crazy bunch of kids. :) Lift up Adam as well as he directs and teaches. Also, please pray that if any don't know the Lord they will come to know him soon. I am not going this time around. Sad, but have had a lot going on the past couple weeks and needed the time to rest at home. I look forward to hearing all the stories about their time!!

Well it's been beautiful spring weather. Flowers are blooming, trees are budding, and no frost!! Ginger and I are enjoying the rainy day. And I am thanking God for the rain! It always forces me to slow down...so I am...today.

This Sunday is our "youth" Sunday, meaning 5th-12th graders are putting on the whole service. Speaking, music (with the help of our band), and dramas/skits. Our lives our crazy 'till it's here, and happy when it's done. :) Actually, I'm a bit nervous with putting last minute things together, but have already been encouraged by the youth through just the practicing. They have worked hard on their preparations and Adam and I are so proud of them!! Please don't miss this service.

I guess it's time for an update: Our lives have been a bit busy. Surprising, I know.

At the end of March, I finally had a chance for a reunion with my besties from college. Erin, Christin, and Kay Ellen. I never would have made it through college without them. We are all nurses. I never thought we would finally be able to get us all together...a year and a half after we graduated, but life has finally calmed down for all of us with our nursing careers. We met up in Chicago and stayed with Erin. We did some major shopping, but most of all we did a lot of chatting and laughing. I am so thankful for my godly friendships, and I thank God for giving me these friends.

Last weekend I was able to meet up with my college friend Erin. We drove up to Northville, MI to one of our good friend's wedding. Congratulations to Adam and Emily!! I couldn't help but be encouraged in Adam and I's own marriage while I listened to the pastor. I remember almost 2 years ago standing before our own pastor and friend, listening to his message, but not having the knowledge and experience as a married couple to quite understand. For better or for worse...in sickness and in health...for riches or for poorer... I am thankful for my husband and even though we havn't been married long, we have been through some tough experiences together. I was reminded that those tough experiences have developed tough love. My husband knows my every fault, but it committed to love me. So congrats to Adam and Emily. May you be stronger together in your relationship with the Lord then you could be apart.

The next couple weeks will be a busy one in our lives with ministry. Adam and I are both involved (amongst others) with planning and organizing youth Sunday. We call it youth Sunday because it is a specific Sunday that our youth (5th-12th) direct the entire church service. I have done some guitar lessons, and I wrote a drama to a song with a powerful message. Adam has been working with some youth about the message and another skit. Our theme: Opposite Way (Romans 12:1-3) Living against this world and following God!! Our youth chose the theme, and I love it. Next Sunday will be the big event, and without giving anything else away, you will just have to come that Sunday to see it!! God has so much to teach us through our youth and they have been working hard.
